During the heyday of Outlaw Doorslammer racing, weight was everything and the team at TMRC was constantly on the lookout for practical ways of saving weight. One common method of achieving this was to look at areas on the car that could provide more than one function that may eliminate the need for additional components with slight modification.

Pro Stock and Pro Modified style wings and spoilers were typically mounted with four main wing support struts with sleeved/pinned adjustment rods, threaded rods ends and hardware. Plus, four spill plate support struts with threaded rod ends and mounting hardware. That’s a lot of stuff going on and TMRC’s team thought there had to be a way to simplify this configuration, clean it up and save some weight in the process.

First, they decided to look at the wing struts themselves. Considering the design of most modern wings/spoilers with downforce mostly being provided by the wicker bill, was it completely necessary to have 3+ inches of adjustment out of you wing supports? No… Wing supports rarely need to be adjusted today and there is enough adjustment in the rod ends at the end of each wing strut. Therefore, the sleeved support strut was turned into a singular tube.

Continuing with the simplification of wing struts, why not eliminate a couple and use the parachute pack that is already at the back of the car to support the wing instead? Done… The parachute pack now acts as the two central wing struts with support tabs and dzus fasteners.

How could this be developed even further? Do you really need two additional support struts, rod ends and hardware on each spill plate? No… The front of the spill plate needs no adjustment, so it can be supported with a plate and removable dzus fastener.

The rear edge of the spill plate can still be supported with a strut and adjustable rod end, by why does it need to be ran all the way to the bumper with another rod end, mounting plate, etc? It doesn’t… The rear only needs a slight amount of adjustment which can be controlled with a single rod end. Secondly, the strut can be tied into the main wing strut that is supported by the bumper.

Simple, practical and race proven over decades… If you are running a Pro Stock or Pro Modified style wing or spoiler, this wing support kit is a no-brainer.

Full kit and all hardware, including two lengths of machine screws is two pounds prior to installation.

This kit is engineered to be used with a dual parachute mount structure.
