The newly-built TMRC Mustang powered by Pro Line Racing Engines and CV Performance recorded a number of 5.6-second, 270+ MPH passes through the course of the Street Car Super Nationals event in Las Vegas, NV. This 273.39 MPH pass will go down as the fastest pass in door slammer history!
BLOWN MONEY GETS ‘MOBBED UP’ IN VEGAS
(10-31-2014) LAS VEGAS, NV – The history of Las Vegas’ connection to organized crime has been the subject of many books and feature films. Alleged ‘Mobsters’ Bugsy Siegal and Meyer Lansky sometimes received credit for creating the ‘Modern Day Vegas’. If you leave their ‘connections’ aside and look at their dreams of a paradise in the middle of a desert; you will see what was the drive within them that became VEGAS
The drive and dedication shown by the men who chose to invest in early Vegas is what gave NHRA Pro Modified team owner, Mike Knowles, the idea to create the ‘Mob Edition’ Mustang. The ‘Mob Edition’ Mustang, built by Tim McAmis race cars and HAND PAINTED by Jeff Hoskins, features many famous scenes and people including it’s driver, Al Capone. The attention to detail on this car is unique and yet unsurpassed by any other true racing machine. The Blown Money team, will have the team’s second car, the ‘Mob Edition’ Mustang, on display at the Mirage Hotel and Casino this week from Wed the 29th till Monday November 3rd.
While the Mustang is on display at the Mirage the team will be on ‘The Strip’ with their race proven Camaro. Coming off a win at the last NHRA Pro Mod event the team is hoping to “let it ride” in Vegas and go for another Wally. “A lot of people told me that after you get your first win out of the way they start getting easier. Well, I hope so cause it’s pretty addicting and I’d really like to take home the win here in Vegas with our ‘Vegas Edition’ Camaro,” said team owner/driver, Mike Knowles.
This week at the Mirage Hotel and Casino are comedian, Jay Leno and the Beatles LOVE show. The Beatles Love is beyond tribute, this is a physical manifestation of their music and lyrics. Performed by Cirque do Soleil, these songs are so well known but yet reinvented through dance and aerial acrobatics.
The 14th annual NHRA Toyota Nationals in Las Vegas, NV. Is the final event of the 2014 NHRA Pro Mod season. After their recent win Mike Knowles’ Blown Money team is riding high and is hoping to keep it rolling in Vegas. Although the Blown Money Team did not make every event on the 2014 tour they currently sit within the top 10 in national points and are looking to stay there.
FIRST LOOK: C7 PRO MOD BODY
(10-07-2014) HAWK POINT, MO– Tim McAmis Performance Parts is ready to unveil the latest in badass Pro Mod bodies: the 2014 C7 Corvette.
The swoopy new body is the first to be fully developed by the pairing of Cynergy Composites and TMPP’s body molding division, Velocity Composites. Previously, Dragzine introduced you to the concept and set the record straight about the sleek new doorslammer skin, as there was quite a bit of misinformation running rampant in cyberspace. This past weekend, TMPP pulled the very first 2014 C7 body from the actual production mold, and once again, Dragzine is here to deliver the exclusive first look!
With input from McAmis, Tim Hodgins of Cynergy Composites designed the body entirely in 3D CAD, making the 2014 C7 the first race car body to make such a claim. The plug for the mold, crafted in-house at Cynergy, was cut on a CNC mill, and is expected to deliver the most accurate and symmetrical body ever built.
Said Hodgins, of the process, “After the plug was milled, we created a splash to test the full size design for the first time. At TMRC we created a mock-up chassis and verified everything we tested in our CAD design. It was very satisfying to see that everything we created in a digital environment transformed flawlessly into a full scale product.”
Based on these photos of the very first actual production C7 Pro Mod body, those claims certainly appear to be true. To meet the needs of as many teams as possible, the C7 will be offered in fiberglass, carbon fiber, and lightweight carbon fiber.
The body sprang to life first as a concept in the minds of Hodgins and Stu Wotypka of ID Motorsports Design. As the pair developed the concept further, chassis specs and dimensions, as well as actual human models, were used to ensure exacting fitment and scaling of the body, meaning fewer issues when mounting the body on it’s chassis.
Tim McAmis summed up the design perfectly: “We spent a lot of time working with Tim [Hodgins] to ensure the body was also user-friendly for the racers and builders. All too often, bodies are produced without this taken into consideration. While they might look cool, they leave a lot to be desired in terms of comfort and visibility for the driver and occasionally require an unusual chassis configuration. With the C7, you get the best of both world — a great level of comfort for the driver, a solid platform for the builder and a bad ass exterior design that is sure to draw attention.”
The CAD renderings you see here are just a small glimpse inside the painstaking design process. Thanks to such care being taken in the design process, the sports’ largest governing body, the NHRA, has already accepted the body for use in Pro Modified competition, so expect to see these sleek bodies adorning the ride of a few Pro Mod teams starting in early 2015.
The actual production of each C7 body will be handled by Velocity Composites in Hawk Point, MO, which acquired Cynergy Composites’ molds to diversify its body offerings and to bring Tim Hodgins on board as a consultant.
The C7 is available now to order through Tim McAmis Race Cars & Performance Parts. You can find more pictures and information by clicking here.

(09-29-2014) MADISON, IL – Mike Knowles raced to his first career victory in the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series Sunday at the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals at Gateway Motorsports Park near St. Louis.
Knowles outran former world champion Von Smith in the final round to earn the win. Knowles used a quicker reaction time in his TMRC-built supercharged Knowles Transportation ’68 Chevy Camaro and a final round performance of 5.934 seconds at 244.65 mph to take the victory over Smith, whose supercharged Dr. Moon/Al-Anabi Racing ’69 Camaro posted a quicker, but losing 5.929 at 241.80.
“It’s incredible,” Knowles said. “I’ve got my family here and that’s what it’s all about. They’ve chased me around state to state. We’ve finally done it. For my crew – it’s just fantastic.”

Rojas Races to NEOPMA Victory at Maple Grove Raceway’s Pro Mod Wars
(9-8-2014) MOHNTON, PA – Isaias Rojas and the Mech-Tech Team had their 08’ Tim McAmis Pro Mod Cobalt ready for action and proved it with an impressive win at the Latin American Sports Compact III Event at Maple Grove Raceway this past weekend. Isaiah’s consistency was awesome, running two 5.95’s in elimination’s and a 5.94 in the final to win and set the Maple Grove track record.
Conditions were awesome for elimination’s on Sunday, but Saturday’s weather had a few thunderstorms pass through in combination with a few Import oil downs and incidents cut three qualifiers down to two. The big story Saturday was points leader Fred Scriba not qualifying leaving the door open for Dwayne Wolfe and Craig Pio to close the gap on the points leader.
“This event was in partnership with Ivan Mejias, club sponsor and owner of USA Auto Supply at his 3rd annual Latin American Sports Compact III event,” said John Mazzorana NEOPMA President. “It was a well-organized event with thousands of fans in attendance and loving the action. Overall for the year, we have had 50+ different Pro Mods attend at least one of our events. That says something positive about quarter mile Pro Mod action on the East Coast.”
Fred Scriba maintains First place in points, with Dwayne Wolfe 41 points behind and Craig Pio a little over two rounds behind with one point’s event remaining October 18th at Atco Dragway. That event will determine the 2014 NEOPMA Champion.

Knowles Ready for Return to NHRA Competition at Indy
(8-29-2014) GRAND JUNCTION, CO – It’s no secret that Pro Modified racer, Mike Knowles, has been a HUGE supporter of the NHRA Pro Modified series for many years but, it’s also no secret that Mike is a man that speaks his mind. In recent months Mike has been very vocal of his displeasure with the pre-entry list process for the Pro Modified class but because of his love for the sport and the class Knowles has decided to make a return to NHRA completion at Indy.
“We recently went to an 1/8th mile PDRA event in Tulsa with the expectation of using that time as testing for Indy but, I’ll tell you once you’re at an event like that you get caught up in the event. There are so many great cars, good people and an amount of fans like I’ve never seen before. After we ran some real good numbers in qualifying we decided to back off the testing and go after winning the race. My guys had their stuff together and we ran some high 3.80’s and went for it but, we ended up losing in the semifinals to Kevin Rivenbark by less than a hundredth. That’s a very strong car that, that in my opinion, SHOULD be at Indy. No matter what, we’ll be there loaded for whatever it takes,” stated Mike Knowles.
Mike Knowles and his Blown Money Tim McAmis Race Cars Pro Modified Camaro will will compete in the 60th annual Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals at historic Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, Indiana this August 27-September 1st. To follow all the action, log onto www.dragracecentral.com or you can follow along at NHRA.com. The first rounds of qualifying for the Pro Modified class will be Friday at 5:30 PM. The second and third rounds of qualifying are set for Saturday at 2:00 PM and 5:30 PM respectively. The final round of qualifying is scheduled for 10:30 AM Sunday with the first round of eliminations set to go off at 2:00 PM. The final day of eliminations for the Pro Mods is set to begin at 1:00 PM Monday.
